In 2009 I was doing my research trying to find all the information I could on Alaskan Malamutes.  I wanted a puppy but I wanted to give it the best chance that I could for a long healthy life and a great temperament.  I searched and searched and found so much information on the internet.  I was trying to process all of this but I needed help in really understanding it.  I found my mentor and friend, Maureen Andersen from Keikewabic Kennels in Dryden, Ontario.  She choose me and my family to be owned by one of her Alaskan Malamute puppies.  This brought GR CH Keikewabic Nanuke into my life.  My life was forever changed from that day forward.  I bought her as a pet but Maureen felt she was a show quality puppy and asked me if I would let her show her.  I thought this sounded like fun but because of my job at a remote fly in resort I couldn’t get her out for training or shows till she was 1 1/2 years old.  She and I  went to our first show in May of 2012 and I was hooked on the structure and movement and breeding of the Alaskan Malamute from that day.   With the help of all the friends I had made that day I learned how to show her and what the breed standard is and how we need to preserve this beautiful animal to be the best they can be at what they were designed to do.  I wanted to strive to preserve excellent health, longevity, temperaments, type, and sound structure in our lines.  I registered my kennel, Tyohni reg’d Alaskan Malamutes in 2014.
I co breed Nanuke’s first litter with Maureen Andersen. She had 8 beautiful healthy Alaskan Malamute puppies that all had homes before their little feet hit the ground.   Out of that litter I kept my first male, GR CH Tyohni Keikewabic Yuki.  My foundation was started and has continued to grow.  I am eternally grateful to Maureen Andersen and many other breeders and kennels of Alaskan Malamutes both near and far.  I continue to grow and learn with their help and the general dog breeding community.   I want to share all I have learned and welcome anyone interested in this majestic breed to contact me.
